So, you were curious enough to see what other surprises were hidden amongst our opening page.
Well, since our club is from "sunny" Florida, we've included some local snap shots of our Light house. Located on the Atlantic ocean at the Jupiter Inlet, in northern Palm Beach County.
Work on the light house began in 1854, and finished in 1860. The Lighthouse stands 105 feet tall atop a 46 ft. hill on the north shore of the Jupiter Inlet. The land that is now Lighthouse Park was once a part of Fort Jupiter, a military installation that was formed during the Seminole Indian Wars.
The brilliant beam has seen many changes in it's surroundings as well as those tending to it's ever present burning light. Through Indian battles, civil wars, hurricanes and ship wrecks, the burning light has flickered once or twice. It's light extinguished during the coastal threat during WWII, and relit after V day, It continues to warn ship Captains of danger, welcomes fishermen home, and endear all who brave the steep climb up it's spiral staircase to the beauty of the Atlantic ocean and Jupiter Inlet.
